Born Through Fire- Purify and Refine REVIEW

Born Through Fire's debut album, Purify and Refine, is a mixed bag of metalcore goodness and some less-than-stellar moments. Fans of As I Lay Dying, one of Lambesis' other bands will find much to enjoy here, as his vocal style and songwriting are front and center. The production is solid, and the riffs are generally catchy. However, some of the songs feel a bit generic and repetitive, lacking the standout hooks or memorable melodies that made As I Lay Dying so successful.

Highlights include the "The Well" with its aggressive riffs and soaring vocals. "Bone by Bone" and "Blood Fire Pain" are also standout tracks, showcasing the band's ability to write catchy and energetic metalcore. However, some tracks just fall flat, and just feel uninspired and lack the same energy as other songs on the album.

Overall, Purify and Refine is a decent debut album from a band with potential. While it has its flaws, it's still a solid effort that fans of metalcore will likely enjoy. With some refinement and more consistent songwriting, Born Through Fire could become a force to be reckoned with in the metalcore scene.
